Random things I thought about today.

1. I think I could vote for Obama. I've never voted for a major-party candidate, and while I'm really a single-issue voter (taxes), Obama is pretty charming. Charming enough to ignore that I'll pay more taxes under his watch than I would under whoever the Republicans bring out, and way more than I would pay if a Libertarian ever had a chance to win an election.

2. Hillary looks horrible in high-def. Scary. If HD televisions were in more households, there's no way she'd be the frontrunner. She'd be polling behind George Jefferson. And she's only going to get worse looking. Take a look at how Presidents age from their inauguration until they leave office. Aging is accelerated by at least twice normal speed. Given that HD is becoming more prevalent, there is no way she could get re-elected. I think sales of HDTV's could spike because people will be interested in seeing Hillary's train-wreck of a face deteriorate before our eyes.

3. I want an iPhone, but this 1.1.1 stuff has me rethinking it. The phone has amazing potential, but unless Apple embraces third-party development, I'm pessimistic about it. Sure, ATT won't allow VOIP and IM apps, but there are some great pieces of software out there that Apple is crippling.

4. Why can't I buy a compact diesel hatchback in this country that isn't a VW?

The television already hosed the country politics-wise, why not let High-Def and the fact that women age slightly less gracefully than men keep it in the toilet?
(Not that I'm a Clinton supporter, just that I want to punch you in the mouth)
